Normally in my life a pint is used to describe how much beer I would like to have in my hand at any given time. However, I am happy to announce that "pint" has taken on a new meaning today. It has been more than a decade since I've last donated blood but today I made up for lost time and jumped back on the bandwagon. My employer, a large UARC in Maryland that shall remain nameless (don't try to figure it out or we'll have to visit your house late at night), is wonderful enough to schedule multiple on-site donations each year which makes this process so easy it is absolutely impossible to not participate. The Red Cross brings in this rickety old bus and it feels like we're on an old episode of M.A.S.H. laying on these "beds" with tubes sticking out of our arms. But let's just say there wasn't exactly any "Hot Lips Houlihan" taking care of me! No worries though, the ladies were very kind if a bit bored with their daily activities.
And, as if saving lives weren't cool enough, I've got to let all of my readers (both of you) in on a very sweet "contest" being spearheaded by a blogger friend of Wifey's. You've got to check out Manic Mommy (or should I say MaNiC MoMMy?) and her way cool contest and give away -
So, my proof----
If I win I'll totally invite all of you to join us in sunny Florida. Either that you you can all divvy up the kids so Wifey and I can try to remember what it feels like to be adults again.
I enthusiastically encourage everyone to join me in restocking your area's blood banks. They all need the donation and you get to look real cool and tough with your Spider Man Band Aid. :)

I've given blood exactly once. I got terribly sick the next day, and I've been terrified to do it again since. (I think I was dehydrated) Hubby can't donate any more (He clots too fast, so they can't get a full pint), but I always feel guilty that I don't. I need to find someone to go with me and hold my hand. And distract me from the needle, which I don't deal with well.
YOU GOT A SPIDEY BANDAID!!!!
You, my friend are ONE COOL DUDE! And the first man of this years' contest so that is EXTRA SPECIAL!!!! And your wife totally rocks! I loved her the minute I saw that one pic of her smiling so huge while she held the three babes and one of them was just screaming his or her head off!
THANK YOU! You are getting a special shout-out on Sunday Bloody Sunday on my blog!!!
And to Trillian42 up there, I would go hold your hand if you donate!
Lovely hubby, you are THE MAN! Love you for having the guts to do this-- I'm still thinking about it... and getting queasy while doing so...
If only Manic was planning a trip to MD, she could Pam's and my hands! :)
You know I have relatives in Annapolis!!!!
Apparently there is no worries about me clotting too fast - I was done in 7 minutes. They told me that was fast. The poor guy in the bed across from me was there when I got there and still there when I left. Finally! One aspect of my life when fast is good!!! ;)
And I am officially inviting Manic to hang out with all of us in MD. I'm not sure we'd make it specifically for blood-letting but we'll discuss the particulars later. There might be some federal statute against crossing state lines for the purpose of getting other people to bleed.
LOL - I'm betting that as long as said people are 1. adults and 2. volunteering, you're probably good.
And I'm in.
Kiwanji -- Guess what, I can get a bag filled in under five minutes, so there! LOL! Just don't cut an atery or I'll bleed to death!
Seriously, how far are you guys from Naptown? We will make it up there eventually!
We can have some duo-donating -- and then do some other PINT SHARING! LOL! You guys are a rocking cool family and so glad to know you through the lovely cyber world!
