October Pics

With JAM getting slightly bigger he was still crying is eyes out all the goram time. But, that's what picture taking is all about - you only have to remember the good times. It's like the sleepless nights never even happened!

My little Yankees fan! All good parents know - indoctrination can never start too early.

I don't know what Mommy did to the poor guy but for some reason JAM had a tendency to looked shocked when his picture was taken. Too funny.

Look! He did sleep - every once in a while! He was the classic car sleeper - most of the time. And thank the good lord for that swing AND the bouncy seat that sure did keep him entertained. We never left home without it, sometimes regardless of the appropriateness of where we took it.

How YOU doin'?

His ridiculous love of books started really early, thanks to Mommy.

I'm too cute! And Mommy dresses me funny for her amusement!

September Pics

Apparently, not a whole heck of a lot happened in September. The problem was that I was in my first month teaching and JAM was auditioning for the role of a fire siren. Between his constant crying and my constant crying and all the work I was putting into trying to figure out how to be a teacher it is no wonder we didn't take many pictures.

|

We did get out to the Renn Fest apparently. Not sure how we worked that into the picture.

Even writing this post 9 years later I can still remember this day like it was yesterday. One of my biggest problems when I was starting out teaching was my lack of long-range planning skills. I could plan the hell out of a lesson for the next day but I was constantly living in fear of what came the next day, next week, next month. It was horrible. I wasn't sleeping because of the new baby and I lost much weight due to the stress. But, for some reason, I think largely due to some wonderful people I worked with (thanks Anne, wherever you are), I finally got it on this Saturday. I went from totally lost to born-again found and it felt like a huge weight had been lifted off my chest.

To celebrate, our new family joined some friends that we've since lost for a Terp football game. The "worst" part? Little JAM, who we tip-toed around at home so he wouldn't wake up and start crying all over again slept practically through the whole thing while the band is playing, the crowd is cheering and basically general mayhem is breaking out all around him. i swear, if he didn't happen to be so cute.....

Adding to the pile

Not only did I have a new baby to worry about, I also started my first year of teaching two days after he was born. Well, not exactly teaching but I did have to report to work for all the new teacher training week nonsense. But, I remember being so happy when I got to see my very first classroom, I was always so proud of my space when I was teaching. Being able to show it off to Wifey and JAM was a lot of fun for me.

JAM's birthday

Not much went on this day - only about 39 hours of labor for poor Wifey. And what did she get out of it? A truly crazy little boy! :)

We were very grateful to have family and friends at the Center with us. That was one of the best things about that place - the fact that bringing a little one into the world didn't have to be a sterile and lonely event. I'll never forget the lasagna and birthday cake we had that night at 1 in the morning. What a great time.

I know I didn't do a whole heck of a lot comparatively, but I was tuckered out if I do say so myself. It gave me the opportunity to take my first nap with my boy.

|

A very scared, but hiding it very nicely thank you, couple with their first born getting ready to head home from the Maternity Center, only about 8 hours after JAM was born.

Finally at home, our other little boy didn't know quite what to make of this new addition...

And relaxing with the new one. Off to a good start. Little did we know that this little bundle of energy was about to start crying and not stop for weeks and weeks.
